Zechariah - Lesson 9
It's hard to believe that we’re already on our last lesson. This has been a hard book to understand, but oh so rich once we started working through those difficult verses and gained some understanding. Last week, we saw Christ coming into Jerusalem on the foal of a donkey. We saw HIm being sold out by Judas for 30 pieces of silver, the price of a common slave. The rest of Chapter 12 with the deliverance of the Jewish remnant has not yet been fulfilled….but rest assured, it will be. Here we are in our last lesson and here we are going into the holiday season. I am so reminded of the angel's song on the night of Christ’s birth, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom His favor rests.” Luke 2:14.
Zechariah - Lesson 8
I want to tell you that Zechariah 11 is not for the faint-hearted! It is one of the more difficult chapters in the Old Testament to understand. I have a few questions for you to ponder.
Zechariah - Lesson 7
The next 2 chapters we’re going to study are some pretty amazing chapters because they chronicle a series of battles long before those battles took place. They are past history for us now. I am always in amazement at the way the Word of God gives us prophetic details that play out exactly as His Word said it would. Chapter 9 leads us into the third major division of this book. In chapters 9-10, we will see both the 1st coming of Christ and the 2nd. Before we get into chapter 9, let’s review a little bit of world history that was given to us in the book of Daniel.
Zechariah - Lesson 6
Zechariah 7 and 8 go together because these 2 chapters mark an interlude in the book. We've just come through all 8 of the night visions that God gave to Zechariah. Those first 6 chapters occurred during one busy night! Now, 2 years have gone by and we're going to get into some of the heart issues of t Jewish people before we get into the really juicy parts in chapters 9-14. Sometimes life seems to get out of order a bit and when that happens, usually chaos follows. In my 7th and 8th grade school year, there was a science teacher at my grade school who should never have been teaching.
Zechariah - Lesson 5
Just when we thought things couldn't get any wilder, here we are in Chapter 6 and the symbolism just keeps getting more strange! Last week, we studied about a flying scroll and a woman in a basket escorted to Babylon with the assistance of two winged women. This week, we'll be studying about 4 chariots. Go back and read all of Chapter 6. Answer the following questions. What tribe is he from?
Zechariah - Lesson 4
Zechariah 5 may present us with the wildest scene yet, a flying scroll! Many serious students of Scripture think that Zechariah is the most difficult book of the Old Testament to understand. We learn in the first few chapters of this book that God was getting ready to do something amazing for the Jewish people. In addition to being the supernatural power behind the rebuilding of the temple, He was going to accomplish something that allowed them to be a kingdom of priests. Prior to the sending of the Holy Spirit to reside within believers, the Holy Spirit was transient.
Zechariah - Lesson 3
In this lesson, we’re going to be looking at the 5th and 6th vision, and these visions are some wild visions! We are still in this one very restless night where 8 visions will be revealed to Zechariah. Last week, we looked at our filthiness before God and just what an enormous work God did to even allow us to come before Him, clean and white. The fact that we can be clean before God speaks to our salvation. Write out Titus 3:5 in the space below.
Zechariah - Lesson 2
The pictures I’m finding for this study are weird! But then again, so is the content of the study! The picture above is a stone with 7 eyes. This will make more sense towards the end of the chapter. Last week we discussed the apocalyptic literature that is found in the book of Zechariah. This type of literature paints pictures with words because for the most part, that is all the writer could do since the scenes the writer was privy to were often something for which they had no point of reference at all.
Zechariah - Lesson 1
Welcome to the book of Zechariah! And oh, what a book it is! By the time you get to the end of chapter 2, you will understand the picture above. Many Bible teachers refer to this book as the Revelation of the Old Testament. For those of you who have done a study of the book of Revelation, you will understand this sentiment by the time we reach the end of Chapter 14. I have always loved the Old Testament books because so many of them read like an ongoing story.
