Zechariah - Lesson 8

I want to tell you that Zechariah 11 is not for the faint-hearted! It is one of the more difficult chapters in the Old Testament to understand. I have a few questions for you to ponder.

  1. Has God promised to preserve Israel?

  2. Has God promised to protect Israel?
    When we get to Zech. 13-14, we will learn that God is going to protect and preserve a remnant of the Jews in the last days before the 2nd coming of Christ. All of that remnant will be saved. But did God promise to protect Israel? As long as Israel was following after God and being obedient to the law of God, they had the protection of God. When Israel engaged with foreign idols and with foreign cultural practices that did not honor God and they rejected God and the Son of God, they lost the protective hand of God and became dispersed amongst the nations. Even today, most of the Jews who live in Israel do not recognize Yeshua/Jesus as their Messiah. Read Matthew 24:15-28. What do you learn in this chapter about what will happen to the Jewish people in Israel during the time before Jesus returns?
