Zechariah - Lesson 9

Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests. Luke 2:24

Excerpt

It's hard to believe that we’re already on our last lesson. This has been a hard book to understand, but oh so rich once we started working through those difficult verses and gained some understanding. Last week, we saw Christ coming into Jerusalem on the foal of a donkey. We saw HIm being sold out by Judas for 30 pieces of silver, the price of a common slave. The rest of Chapter 12 with the deliverance of the Jewish remnant has not yet been fulfilled….but rest assured, it will be. Here we are in our last lesson and here we are going into the holiday season. I am so reminded of the angel's song on the night of Christ’s birth, “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom His favor rests.” Luke 2:14. Peace is an interesting word in the world today. We have anything but peace. Wars and rumors of wars are raging across the globe. The kingdom of God that will be on earth after the tribulation will be vastly different from what we are experiencing now. What we learn from Zechariah is that there will eventually be permanent peace in this old world. But before the true Prince of Peace comes to rule and reign, a worthless shepherd will lead many astray. His leadership will be cut short by the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ. Chapter 12 is a revelation of what is going to happen at the end of time regarding the nation of Israel.
