2 Thessalonians - Lesson 7

Excerpt

I pray that as you are reading this, you remain aware of the last part of our lesson last week, namely bringing glory to God. At the end of every day, ask yourself the question, “What did I do today that glorifies God?” The Church that remains here on earth would be so much more effective in these last days if we were purposely aware of and intentional about bringing glory to God.
This week, we’re moving into 2 Thess. 2. Keep in mind what you have already learned from 1 Thess. If you remember, this young church was fearful of the fact that the rapture of the Church had taken place and they had missed it. Paul follows up with this line of thought in this week’s lesson. Go ahead and read 2 Thess. 2. In v. 1, what event is Paul referencing?
“The gathering together”, “The taking up”, is all a reference to what we call the rapture of the Church. Paul addressed this in detail with them in 1 Thess. 4. Yet, there were apparently those who still were fearful that they’d been left behind. In v. 2, Paul tells them not to be upset regarding the Day of the Lord because it had not occurred yet. How is the rapture of the Church and the Day of the Lord connected? You may have to go back a couple of lessons to look at that.
