1 & 2 Thessalonians - Lesson 6

Excerpt

Oh, how I love to read 1 Thess. 5:10-11! What peace it brings to my heart. There are a lot of people in my friends and family circle who are already with the Lord. I went most of my life without losing a friend. And then, 3 years ago it happened. A dear friend died. I have a lot of acquaintances. I have a lot of friends. But I only have a few sister friends, those that I talk to frequently and share with deeply. For the past 3 years, I’ve lost 1 sister friend each year and it has been devastating to me. I didn’t anticipate the death of any of them, not that that would have made it easier, although somehow, I believe it would. Even now, their precious faces move across my memory like pictures on a conveyor belt and I search my auditory bank to hear each of their voices and what they sounded like. I still cry over each of them because none of them can be replaced. I don’t feel like we ever get over the death of a loved one, but we do move through it with the help of God. And these words, “whether we are awake (alive) or asleep (dead) we might live with Him.” This is the blessed hope! I will be reunited with all those loved ones who have gone before me. “Therefore, comfort one another with these words.”
