Geopolitical Update May 4th, 2026
1. Is support for Israel waning? I think it is. A recent article in The Times of Israel entitled, “Why U.S. funding for the iron dome is losing support on both sides of the aisle”, leads us to speculate on America’s future relationship with Israel. Will we wake up one morning and discover that this country has turned its back on Israel? Zech. 14:2 lets us know that there will come a day when ALL nations gather together against Israel. That includes us and that is a sombering thought, but we are headed there and when President Trump leaves office, I fear what the future support of Israel will be. Voices on both sides of the political aisle are saying that we don’t want to be funding Israel while they are committing genocide in Gaza.
What is genocide anyway? It is the systematic destruction of a race or an ethnic group either in part or in whole. It is certainly not Israel who is committing genocide. If most Muslims had their way, there would be no Israel and no Jews. They are the genocidal maniacs, not Israel. Too many of these talking heads do not know what they are talking about when they so carelessly throw this term around. There’s a lot of deception going on across the world today. BEWARE!
2. Another flotilla - There is another one that stupidly came to the rescue of Gaza. As usual, the IDF has overtaken the vessel and those “humanitarian aid” folks are telling the world that they are being mistreated. Part of the world believes this rhetoric which also makes us think of 2 Thess. 2:11, “And for this cause, God shall send them strong delusion.” Delusion, deception, it’s all connected.
3. Assassination attempt on the President - On March 30, 1981, when President Ronald Reagen was coming out of the Washington Hilton Hotel, he was shot in the chest by a deranged man named, John Hinkley Jr. I’m not sure the public knew how close he came to dying at the time. We do now. Reagan was shot just about 2 1⁄2 months into his presidency. That place has some bad mojo! Reagan’s press secretary, James Brady was also shot, but in the head and was disabled for the remainder of his life being confined to a wheelchair. Btw, Hinkey was found not guilty for reason of insanity. That part makes me a little crazy!
On April 25, 2026, a very pregnant Karoline Leavitt, the current press secretary was sitting close to the president at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner which just happened to be at the Washington Hilton Hotel, when an evil man named Thomas Allen Cole attempted to storm the room and shoot the president. It seems very strange to me that anyone who was a guest in this hotel could have brought in weapons and stayed there in the hotel where they would have had access to the elevators and stairwells leading to the room where the dinner was taking place. There was total chaos. The press room where Karoline Leavitt addresses the country and where President Trump addressed the country after this incident is ironically named the James Brady press room.
And if you think this is the 3rd assassination attempt on President Trump, you need to pull up the Wikipedia page entitled “Security Incidents Involving Donald Trump”. There are too many to even list here. This man is undoubtedly kept alive by the hand of God and we need to pray for his safety every day.
4. Strategic Trade Routes - Most of us have never really thought much about the trade routes of the world until the last several months. Now, we have to think about them because the geopolitical war games being played are affecting the entire planet! This is something that we will continue to look at as we move further into these last days before the rapture of the Church. These trade routes affect global supply chains. And just like we have veins and arteries that carry blood to other parts of our bodies so that our cells can get the nutrients they need, so too are the trade routes around the globe. The trade routes, especially those in the Middle East are crucial to the world economy and when there’s a bottleneck in one of them, it is felt across the world like a tremor that shakes every other economy and like a vein that is clogged. Let’s look at some of the more important ones:
a. Bab el-Mandeb Strait - This strait connects the Red Sea with the Gulf of Aden and is crucial to the economy of Europe and Asia.
b. Suez Canal - This canal is in Egypt and connects the Mediterranean Sea to the Red Sea. 12% of world trade goes through this canal. If countries are forced to take lengthier alternative routes, shipping costs increase dramatically and that cost is passed on to the consumer.
c. Strait of Hormuz - This strait connects the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea. 20% of the world’s oil goes through this strait at a rate of 17 million barrels of oil a day! The U.S. military is currently blockading this strait to prevent Iran from being able to ship oil and generate oil revenue, essentially crippling Iran’s economy and forcing it to comply with security terms for other nations who want to send ships through the strait.
d. IMEC - India-Middle East-Europe Corridor. This corridor is being built to counterbalance China and their ports. This is a multi-year project that is not fully functional yet, but when completed, it will have enormous benefits to the global economy.
e. Al faw Port - This port being built in Basra,Iraq is in the Arabian Gulf and seeks to connect Asia to Europe with a railway through Turkey. This is a long project, traditional trade routes like the Suez Canal, providing a faster alternative for moving global goods. We discussed this port in class regarding its connection to Babylon.
f. NEOM - This futuristic city is currently being built in Saudi Arabia and was due to be completed by the 2029 Asian Winter Games. However, many deadlines have been missed and now the project is significantly behind in its progress. When completed, this city which will border on the coast of the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aqaba, will be a major industrial port. There are many in the prophecy world who think that NEOM will be “Mystery Babylon” from the book of Revelation.
So, you see, the Middle East is packed with ports for global trade and everything in the book of Revelation is based in this area of the world. The coming Antichrist will be managing global trade and the global economy. This is why we must keep our eyes on this area of the world. All of the puzzle pieces are coming together. We don’t know what is going to happen in this war with Iran, but we know that God is sovereign and that means He is in control of everything regardless of how scary and chaotic it seems to us.
Now is the time to make your faith known to those around you. It is not up to you to save the world. That is God’s job. It is up to you to share the Gospel.
