Daniel 6 is an important chapter in Scripture. Daniel is an old man in his 80’s by this time. He had so many opportunities to just assimilate into the Babylonian culture. The temptation to compromise was always looming around him as it is us. What if someone told you that you couldn’t worship your God with other people of similar belief, and that you were not allowed to sing hymns of worship to Him or pray out loud to Him? What would you do?! Friends, that has already happened in America, and we failed the test miserably by closing down our places of worship and separating our people so that they could not be in community with one another. We tend to think that experiences are going to look a certain way, the way it did in the Bible perhaps. We think that if this ever happened in America, it would happen because some evil dictator with his minions would be out in the streets enforcing their evil laws. However, it didn’t quite look like that. My pastor has already said that he will never close down the church again. I so applaud this. America’s bout with Covid showed us just how easy it would be to keep people away from church and from congregating. We must always take seriously the words of the . . .
