Joshua - Lesson 11
Excerpt
I have to say that I’m sad this study is coming to an end. I have wanted to do a study on the book of Joshua for the last few years. I’m so glad that we got to do this one at this time in world history. Oh what an important and timely book to study with all that is going on in the Middle East and the contention over the land of Israel. The things I learned from studying this book will remain with me forever and I pray that you also have tucked away some of the great lessons from this book deep into your heart.
We are going to begin this final lesson with a short lesson on communication. Over the years in my counseling practice, I’ve seen a lot of people get themselves into trouble because they either didn’t understand what was communicated to them, they misperceived what was communicated to them, or they themselves communicated to someone else in a way that was not clear and understandable.
When Joshua led the people across the Jordan River and into the land, they fought for a long 7 years to establish their land boundaries. There was constant change. Remember, they had been wandering around in the wilderness for years. None of them were old. Because their parents didn’t get to enter the land, only the children who were under the age of 20 when they left Egypt and their children were allowed to enter. Joshua and Caleb were the only 2 old geezers in the land! All these people had known was change. They would camp somewhere for a while and then pack up and move to somewhere else. Being stationary and settling was something that was foreign to them.
