The Feast of Passover and Unleavened Bread - Lesson 3
Excerpt
Last week, we learned about the beginnings of the Feast of Passover. We also learned that the original story of Passover goes much deeper than the story of the death angel passing by the homes with the blood-stained lintels and doorposts. This week, we’ll go a step deeper. How do you best remember things, events, people?
Every single year, scattered across my calendar are the dates of the birthdays of all the family members and friends that I want to celebrate throughout the year. The day that God breathes life into each individual is a special day and for those I love, I want to memorialize that day. That’s what a birthday celebration is and if I didn’t send a card, buy a gift, serve a meal, or get a birthday cake for those I love every single year, then I’m not sure I’d remember each person’s special day. A birthday is a memorial celebration. It happens once a year at the same time of year. How can we remember monumental events in Scripture? The answer is, we celebrate them once a year, every single year, at the same time of year. Some things we celebrate more frequently than yearly. The Lord’s Supper is one of those things. These are sacred moments in the life of the Church between the people of God and God Himself.
