1 Thessalonians - Lesson 2
Before we jump into the next chapter, let’s do a little review on what we already know. We know that the Apostle Paul wrote a letter to the church at Thessalonica and that this letter is what we refer to as 1 Thessalonians. We know that this was a young church in terms of how long it had been in existence. We know that Paul wrote the letter between AD 50-51. This letter was meant to encourage these believers because they were living in a pluralistic society with Greek, Roman, and Jewish traditions. We know that these believers were actually being the Church which is something that could not be said of all the other churches Paul visited.
The final question posed in last week’s lesson was concerning 1 Thess. 1:10 and the meaning of wrath. I want you to keep this in mind as we go through this week’s lesson.
This week as I’ve been keeping up with the news around the world, there appears to be an increasing threat of nuclear war. Anti-radiation pills are being advertised everywhere. Expert preppers are producing videos instructing us what to do in the case of a nuclear bomb. War games are being played between nations whose leaders are ungodly and unable to make rational decisions. It is unnerving! And then I come to this precious letter that Paul wrote to the Thessalonians, and I am encouraged, and I have hope.
