The Book of Revelation

Lesson 7, Chapter 6

By Cindy Ketron

On The Edge of Eternity

Ah, chapter 6…..the beginning of the juicy stuff! This is the beginning of what others think about when they think about the book of Revelation. But, the “juicy” stuff will be the most tormenting and horrendous time the earth has ever known and will ever know. All hell is literally about to be released on the earth. I’m so glad we will not be here to witness this.

These final 7 years on the earth correspond with the 70th week of Daniel as outlined in Dan. 9. But there is some reason to believe that the events contained in Rev. 6-19 closely correspond with the last 3 ½ years as opposed to the entire 7 year period. The seal, trumpet and bowl judgments appear to happen in rapid succession and begin at the 3 ½ year mark with an act called the abomination of desolation. The chapter we are studying this week almost precisely parallels Matt. 24:4-31, Matt. 25:31-46, Mark 13, and Luke 21. Before we get into Rev. 6, let’s examine Matt. 24-25 and see what we can discover about those crucial chapters and then we’ll compare it to what we are studying this week. For the sake of time, we are only going to be looking at the verses in Matthew.

1.What is the theme of the following verses?

Matt. 24:6-7a

Matt. 24:7b

Matt. 24:9

Matt. 24:29

Matt. 25:31-46

As we slide into Rev. 6 this week, I want to say this, the events of this chapter have never happened to the extent that they are spoken of in this chapter. By the time chapter 6 begins to unfold, we are in heaven watching from the mezzanine. I am so grateful that believers don’t have to experience the events spoken of in this chapter. I have no idea how much time has elapsed from the rapture of the Church to the beginning of the 70th week of Daniel that we refer to as the tribulation. Those last 3 ½ years are called the Great Tribulation and they will culminate with the battle of Armageddon and the 2nd return of Christ.

Many books of the Bible are not in exact chronological order. The book of Revelation can be confusing because of this. What you will find is that there will be an overview of an event and then it goes back to explain the event in greater detail. Rev. 6 contains a quick overview of most of the rest of the book. From this point on in Revelation until we get to chapter 19, we see the Jewishness of the book. Remember the covenant that God made with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the book of Genesis? He still has to make good on all of those promises and rest assured, He will. The Antichrist will not be revealed until the Church is out of the way and in heaven. The 70th week of Daniel/tribulation will begin with something. We will be covering some familiar ground in the book of Daniel throughout this lesson and we will be rehashing some of what we’ve already read.

2.Read Dan. 9:27. What happens to kick off this last 7 years on the earth?

Below is a diagram that we will be referring to from time to time as we continue on with this study. It is good to start familiarizing yourself with it so that you can place things on this timeline as you learn them. This timeline was taken from Pastor Gary Hamrick of Cornerstone Chapel in Leesburg, VA.

Go ahead and read all of Rev. 6. The first 4 seals are associated with the 4 horses. Each of these horses is a different color and each one has a rider who has a particular job.

3.Color each horse the color associated with its number and write out to the side, everything you are told in Scripture about the horse and the rider.

4.What sound does John hear in Rev. 6:1?

As I am writing this lesson, I hear distant thunder. I just unplugged my computer so that I could protect it just in case lightning might run in and destroy it. My dog, Leroy, always senses a storm about 20 minutes before it hits and he’s hiding under my legs right now. That distant thunder lets me know that a storm is coming. The sound of thunder in Rev. 6:1 indicates that a great storm is getting ready to fall upon the earth.

Seal #1

Seal #2

Seal #3

Seal #4

Horse #1 corresponds with seal #1 and this horse is white. Some people think that the rider on this horse is Jesus Christ.

5.Read Rev. 19:11-13. How is Christ described in these verses?

6.What did the rider on the white horse in Rev. 6:2 have in his hand and on his head?

The word in Greek for crown in Rev. 6:2 is stephanos, which is a victor’s crown and there appears to be only one on this rider’s head. Look back to Rev. 19:12. The word in Greek here is diadem and this means a royal ruler’s crown.

7.How many diadems are on the rider's head in Rev. 19:12?

8.Are the riders of the white horse in Rev. 6 and Rev. 12 holding the same thing?

Obviously, these riders are different individuals. The rider on the white horse in Rev. 6:2 is most likely the Antichrist and the rider on the white horse in Rev. 19:12 is Jesus Christ. I say, most likely, because there are schools of thought that say this rider is only a representation of a government. Either way, this first rider is associated with the Antichrist. Funny how Satan always seems to replicate whatever Jesus Christ does, but he distorts it in some form or fashion. In ancient times, it was customary after a general or ruler had won a military victory to go through the streets riding a white horse. In Rev. 19, Jesus Christ is riding the white horse and is leading the armies of heaven to the earth to conquer the earth.

9.All 4 riders and horses symbolize God’s judgment upon the earth. What appears to be the weapon of choice for the rider of the white horse in chapter 6?

10.At the point where we see these 4 riders, we can assume something else based on 2 Thess. 2:7-9. What does 2 Thess. 2:7 tell you about the restraint of evil at this time we are reading about in Rev. 6?

The Holy Spirit is the restrainer of evil. I’ve often heard pastors and teachers say that when the Church is raptured the Holy Spirit will no longer be on the earth. If that were true, then we’d have to come up with a different way of explaining how people on the earth will be saved during both halves of the tribulation period. God is not creating a new way for people to be saved. The salvation of the world is always in accordance with the work of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer. Add to this the fact that the nature of the Trinity is consistent always. One of the natures of all 3 persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) of the Trinity is omnipresence, or being in all places at all times. If, as some want to say, the Holy Spirit is removed completely from the earth, then we have to do something about the eternal nature of the Holy Spirit. A better way of understanding the role of the Holy Spirit at this time, is that He is still present, still involved in bringing others to salvation, but His restraining influence is not utilized during this period of time.

The book of Daniel contains many passages with dual meanings, a now and later meaning. In Dan. 7:8, 8:9, and 11:40-43, we see the prediction of one who is yet to come at the end who will be a conqueror. This conquering coincides with the rider on the white horse.

11.Now go back to the beginning of the Bible and read Gen. 10:8-10. Who else is depicted as a hunter/warrior?

The book of Jasher is an apocryphal book. There were 4 apocryphal books that did not make it into the canon, or the 66 books we refer to as the Bible. We cannot consider it to be Holy Spirit breathed or inspired. However, it is mentioned in the Bible in Joshua 10:13, 2 Sam. 1:18, and 2 Tim. 3:8. At the very least, I think we can consider it to be historically accurate. Jasher states that Nimrod began his life in a righteous way and even made sacrifices to God. The book goes on to state that God gave Nimrod the bow because at that time, human beings were defenseless against some of the wild animals. But we know that Nimrod eventually rebelled against God. The Jewish historian, Josephus, in his first Book of Antiquities, also has a similar description of Nimrod. Nimrod was described as the first man on earth to wear a crown and the first man to shoot a bow. He also stands out in Scripture as the first antichrist-type. How very interesting that the rider on the white horse has many of his distinguishing characteristics. There may be nothing to this, but as we go on, I think you’re going to see a strange similarity.

12.For our study purposes, the rider on the white horse is the Antichrist. Go back to your white horse and label it Antichrist.

In Rev. 6:3-4, the second seal is broken and the second horse and rider is revealed. The rider of the red horse was granted to take peace from the earth.

13.In order to take something away, musn’t it be present first?

The absence of peace signifies war. This also tells us that this rider on the white horse must be bringing in a false peace.

14.Go back to the red horse and label it War.

The first 3 ½ years of the tribulation is going to be vastly different from the last 3 ½ years. In the first half, Israel will be protected and will have a ruler. This person will bring a false peace into a troubled world. Can you even imagine what chaos will be created when the Church is raptured out of the world? This is the very scenario where the man with a plan enters the scene. Many think this ruler will be a Gentile. There are others who think this ruler will be a Jew.

15.What do you think Dan. 11:27 means in relation to whether the Antichrist will be Jew or Gentile?

This is the verse that those who think the Antichrist will be a Jew use in defending this position. They think that “the God of his fathers” means that he will reject the God of the Jews. The word “God” in this verse is elohim in Hebrew. There are some translations that have this word in the lowercase “god”. If, in fact, this word is intended to be a lowercase, then it could indicate that the Antichrist could have any religious heritage, but has rejected it. In this sense, he could be a Protestant, a Roman Catholic, or even a Muslim.

16.Go back to Dan. 9:25-27, Do these verses say anything about the Jews thinking that the Antichrist will be the Messiah?

These verses indicate that this person, whoever he is, will be a person involved with directing a military victory to assure the peace of Israel for that first 3 ½ years.

17.But perhaps the strongest argument for the Antichrist being a Gentile comes from Rev. 13:1 and Rev. 17:15. Where does this “Beast” come from? (Keep in mind that the Beast spoken of here is the Antichrist.)

In Scripture, the sea is often analogous with the Gentile nations. Now, the false prophet might be Jewish, but I don’t think the Antichrist is going to be Jewish. You can read and study and make up your own mind. The people of the world will worship this individual. We don’t want to get too far ahead of ourselves here because we’ll cover this in detail when we get deeper into the book of Revelation.

18.What does 2 Thess. 2 say about when the Antichrist will be revealed?

We might be alive to see him before we are raptured, but his identity will not be revealed until we are out of here. The startling thing for me in how some people view endtime events is that they say the events contained within this book have already happened. That is a hard stretch given what has happened historically and what is written will be occurring during the time of the tribulation.

When the third seal is broken, a black horse is revealed with a rider who had scales in his hands.

19.Read Lev. 26:26 and describe what will happen to the bread if God’s children do not obey Him.

To eat bread by weight is a Jewish reference to scarcity. If you look back at some of the major famines that have occurred since the beginning of time, you will find that famines are often caused by the politics of war and not the actual scarcity of food. Just look at what happened during Covid. When Covid hit, grocery store shelves were emptied because people were frightened and they went out to make sure they had food in their pantries. Then, if you remember, there were all kinds of things where people were instructed that only 1 or only 2 per customer could be purchased. The food industry itself nearly evaporated with all of the extended close-downs. Many farmers had to burn and destroy the food they had grown. All of this is political. War precedes the rider on the black horse with the set of scales in his hands. Given what I just said, it makes sense that the black horse would follow the red horse. Go back and label the black horse, Famine.

20.Read Amos 8:11. Amos was a prophet who had to share some pretty devastating news with Israel. The people of God had chased after other gods and had become faithless and adulterous. What kind of famine did God say He would send to the land.

I’ve never really been hungry. I consider myself like a camel…..I have enough stored up in my hump to last me a month or two! But God tells Israel that not only will there be an actual famine regarding food, there will also be a scarcity of His Word. If a person is truly hungry, he/she will eat just about anything. Do you think we have a famine of God’s Word going on in our country today?

21.What happens if you don’t eat or drink actual food and water?

22.What happens if you don’t eat or drink any spiritual food?

A spiritual famine might look like many of the scenes we see today on tv where people are wearing pink vagina hats, looting and destroying property, erasing history, hating and killing. But perhaps the thing that has struck me the most over the last few years was at one of the major denominational conferences when person after person (all were supposedly ministers) got up and shared their names, location of ministry, and personal pronouns. As I watched gay and transgender “ministers” get up and use pronouns that didn’t match their actual gender and butcher the English language by sometimes using the words, she, her, them or he, her, them to define a solitary person, I wanted to throw up. The violence that these people did during that meeting to the Word of God is incalculable!

I have been very disappointed in my own denomination as of late that the leadership has violated God’s precepts to the point that I no longer even consider myself to be a member of that denomination. The SBC leadership has demonstrated a total lack of courage and a frighteningly political climate that is leaning more and more to the liberal side. Yes, we have a famine of the Word of God today! Yet, in the midst of this famine, God is allowing us as true believers to feast on His Word. That is what you are doing as you do this Bible study.

Amos tells Israel that she will experience a famine of the Word of God. That famine is still lasting today.

23.What does the Apostle Paul tell young Timothy will be the situation of the last days in 2 Tim. 3:1-5?

24.Are we there? Sadly, I believe we are. Only a few verses later in 2 Tim. 4:3, Paul goes on to elaborate about what people will actually want to hear. What is that?

Because we are living in a time when there is a spiritual famine of the Word of God, people will grab hold of anything just to eat. And many times, they are eating spiritual junk food! Think back about the 7 churches and all that was going on there. That is where we are right now! I think we can see examples of all 7 of those churches in our country today. But, we are overcomers and God will see us through this miry cultural mess!

When the 4th seal is broken, the rider on the pale horse comes forth. Pale or ashen is actually a puke green color. Death was the rider and Hell/Hades was following after him. (Sounds like that famous line from the movie Tombstone with Wyatt Earp.) One-fourth of the world is killed. We sometimes comment that the flood of Noah’s day was the most horrific thing that has ever happened to humanity. That is true, up until this 4th seal and 4th horse emerges, the worldwide flood would be considered the worst. But this event that will happen will be far worse than the flood. In Noah’s day and time, there were not nearly as many people on the earth as we currently have. I read in one commentator’s account that this event would be equivalent to the entire populations of Europe and South America being killed. So, yes, the flood of Noah’s day took the lives of everyone on earth with the exception of 8 people, but the devastation of the 4th seal and horse will kill far more people.

25.Go back and label the 4th horse horse, Death.

26.How are the people killed?

Pestilence contains the idea of plague or sickness. Perhaps Covid or something much more deadly will come upon mankind at that time. I believe that Covid was just a “dry run” for Satan and that Dr. Anthony Fauci was simply a pawn in the hands of Satan. The germs from a pestilence are often much more deadly little beasts than the big wild ones in the field.

27.Read Rev. 6:9-11. What is the 5th seal about?

I have some difficulty imagining the structure of the altar with individuals under the altar. Yes, that is exactly what we are told is the scenario.

28.Read Ex. 29:12 and Lev. 4:7. Where was the blood for the sacrifices poured?

The area where the blood was poured for the Old Testament sacrifices is also the area where these tribulation martyrs will be. And I say tribulation martyrs because they appear right after the 5th seal is opened which causes one to assume these particular souls came from the tribulation. Many individuals will come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ during this period of time. And because they have made a profession of faith in Him, they will be martyred for their faith. Their souls must have some kind of form because they are given white robes to wear. One cannot help but wonder about the form of these bodies. Since we will discover later on in Revelation that these souls had not yet been given their resurrection bodies, we know from Rev. 6:11 that those white robes were placed on some kind of body. What kind of body remains a mystery.

They are crying out to God and asking Him how much longer He’s going to allow this murderous scene of Christians to continue before He steps in and avenges all their deaths.

29.What does He tell them?

I’m not sure that’s the answer they wanted to hear, but they’ll have some future company with the additional souls who will also be killed for their faith. This question lets us know that those who persecuted them must still be alive on the earth. Have you ever wondered why God allows evil to continue on and on and on? Many people claim that they don’t believe in God because He allows so much evil to exist in the world. However, we can never lose sight that God has a plan. He always has a plan because He is sovereign.

30.Read 2 Pet. 3:9. What does this verse say?

You see, God does have a timetable and He has been so very generous to outline that timetable for us. It might not always be the timetable we want, but it is the one we’re going to get. God has His reasons for the timing of all these events. I found it so interesting that these martyred souls in heaven were still asking God about His timetable.

In every generation since the inception of the Church, Christians have been martyred. I don’t know if every single person who comes to a saving knowledge of Christ during the tribulation will be killed, but given the circumstances, I think we can assume that many, most, or even all will shed their own blood to seal their testimony of Christ. When we get over to Rev. 7 and Rev. 13, we will see even more evidence of those who died during this period of time.

31.What happens in Rev. 6:12 when the 6th seal is broken?

We will be reading about 3 major earthquakes on the earth. This is the first one if you want to make a notation beside this verse in your Bible. As I am writing this lesson, it has been reported on the news that there has been an 8.8 magnitude earthquake in Russia and it has been reported that this is the strongest earthquake of our lifetime. It even caused a dormant volcano to erupt, something that has not happened in over 600 years. The earth is groaning. The opening of this 6th seal is one of the most frightening scene in all of Scripture.

32.What happens to the sun and the moon in Rev. 6:12?

33.The Old Testament prophet, Joel, predicted this event. What does he say in Joel 2:10 and Joel 2:30-31 regarding the sun and the moon?

34.What happens to the skies or heavens?

35.Read the following verses and describe what God is doing in these verses to the heavens:

Job 9:8

Ps. 104:2

Is. 40:22

Zech. 12:1

Stretching the heavens is a common phrase in Scripture. From what we just read, it certainly sounds as if the universe has some kind of substance that can be manipulated in the hands of God. There are some who would say that the language used here is only symbolic and that God will not actually “roll up the heavens.” However, unless I read that something is “like” something else, I take it literally.

36.What will all the important guys on earth do at this time?

It will not matter if a person is rich or if a person is politically powerful. The wrath of God will rain down upon the rich and the poor, the kings and the peasants. No one will be able to escape.

37.Read Rev. 1:7. Will the people of the earth know who has rained down wrath upon them?

For the Christian, there are some things that are worse than death. Suffering in some cases can be so bad that believers long to just go ahead and be with the Lord in heaven. But for these wicked people who will be hiding themselves in caves and who are begging for death, they obviously have no clue what awaits them on the other side. My mind cannot help but wonder if these people know where this wrath is coming from, then why wouldn’t they repent of their wickedness. Obviously, they have fallen under the great delusion that the Apostle Paul describes in 2 Thess. 2:11.

Sometimes when I see someone on tv or social media mock God, I think in the back of my mind, “One day, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that He is Lord.” Ron Regan Jr. had a commercial on tv a few years ago and he was advertising for the Freedom From Religion Foundation. He ended his ad by saying, “Ron Regan Jr., life-long atheist, not afraid of burning in hell.” The first time I heard that ad, the hairs on the back of my neck stood at attention! The brazenness of such a statement! Yet, not only are statements such as his accepted, they are applauded and if we dare say that he is wrong or even worse, that he is going to hell, then we are the haters of the world. People like this hate the truth and when we speak the truth, that is why they call us haters. One day, Ron Regan Jr. will give an account of his life and he will be sentenced based on his acceptance or rejection of Jesus Christ.

Friends, do not compromise. We are beginning to be the minority across the world and in the U.S. and Islam is now the fastest growing religion across the earth. We American Christians have never been the minority. It is difficult to even think about. But, Jesus has overcome the world and because we are His, we too are overcomers.

38.In Rev. 6:17, what “day” is mentioned?

39.Do you think this is 1 day or several days or what?

The “day of the Lord” is often referred to as “that day” or a “day of wrath” in Scripture. These phrases always coincide with a period of time and not just a 24-hour day. That said, there are some Bible teachers who do believe that it indicates a 24-hour period of time.

There are some amazing patterns in Scripture that I believe correspond with what we’ve read in Rev. 6. Matthew 24, Mark 13, and Luke 21 are all passages that chronicle the end days. They are all consistent with the events of Rev. 6.

40.In Matt. 24:1-3, what 3 questions do the disciples ask?

41.Notice that Jesus only answers 2 of them. Which 2 does He answer?

The disciples could not imagine that Christ’s return to the earth would not happen immediately if the temple had been destroyed. Therefore, this is why they likely looked at the destruction of the temple and the 2nd coming of Christ as one consolidated event. However, we know that the temple was destroyed in 70 AD by the Romans, just as Jesus said it would be. He didn’t return with that destruction. But He will!!!!!

42.There is a warning to us in Mt. 24:4. What is it?

43.Look back a few pages in your homework, what color was the 1st horse and what did it symbolize?

44.What was the first thing Jesus told the disciples in Mt. 24:5?

There will be many fakers out there between the time of Jesus’s ascension and His 2nd coming. But there will only be 1 Antichrist. He rises out of warfare.

45.What color was the 2nd horse and what did he symbolize?

46.What does Mt. 24:6 say will happen next?

47.What color is the 3rd horse and what will that horse symbolize?

48.What does Mt. 24:7 say will happen in various places?

49.What color is the 4th horse and what does this horse symbolize?

50.What does Mt. 24:9 say will happen to people when famine and war happen?

51.Does the 5th seal correspond to Mt. 24:9? Why or why not?

52.Does the 6th seal correspond to Mt. 24:29-30? Why or why not?

Isn’t it amazing how God inspired men over thousands of years to write words that correspond to one another?

53.This chapter ends in Rev. 6:17 with the question, “....and who will be able to stand?”. This may be a rhetorical question, but, who will be able to stand?

Standing during this time will most likely cost an individual his/her life. We have mentioned Daniel’s 70th week, but before we go any further, we must get this concept nailed down so that we can keep all this information straight as we move forward. If you haven’t studied the book of Daniel, you should, because a great treasure trove is awaiting you! Daniel is an amazing book and we have a study of this book on our website.

Read Dan. 9:20-27. Prior to these verses, Daniel is praying for his people who are exiled in Babylon. Scripture says that he is crying out to God in sackcloth and ashes, and with prayer and supplications. The angel Gabriel is sent by God to give Daniel instructions. And when Gabriel arrives, Daniel is in “extreme weariness” from seeking God. I cannot tell you how that qualifier of Daniel’s self hit me. I just stared at the words for a while. For when have I prayed until I was extremely weary? When have I sought God so diligently that I was willing to fast? (I don’t miss a lot of meals.) When have I been so concerned about anyone or anything to wear myself out seeking God? Daniel was highly esteemed among men and God was getting ready to deliver to him the answers he was seeking.

In Dan. 7:24-27, we learn that 70 weeks from the time of Daniel’s hearing of the prophecy were to be decreed before the Messiah comes. The only way that we can make this work logically and chronologically is that 1 week, (7 days) must equal 7 years.

54.In Dan. 9:24, who is “your people” referring to?

55.What do you think this verse means when it says that the people will make an end of sin?

This verse is referencing the last things that must happen prior to the 2nd coming of Jesus. Of course, when Daniel wrote this, the 1st coming had not yet occurred.

56.In Dan. 9:25, how many total weeks will it be until Jerusalem is rebuilt?

57.If we add 7 weeks to 62 weeks, we get 69 weeks. However, after the 62nd week something happens. What is it according to Dan. 9:26?

The first temple was destroyed in 586 BC. This temple is often referred to as Solomon’s temple. It was at this time that Daniel and his friends went into Babylonian captivity. But 70 years after this, a group of exiles returned to Israel to rebuild the temple. The Messiah will be cut off/killed and the people of the prince who is to come will destroy the city and the temple again. This temple, called Herod’s temple, was destroyed in 70 AD. An interesting sidenote is that both temples were destroyed on the same calendar day on the Jewish calendar, the 9th of Av.

58.Who do you think is “the prince who is to come?”

There are many names for the Antichrist in Scripture. This is just one of them. Obviously, there will be a 3rd temple. It hasn’t been built yet, but if you google templemount.org, you will find a wealth of information about the plans to rebuild the temple. They have everything they need, all the temple furnishings, the priestly garments, the money, the materials, etc. They’ve been doing mock rehearsals of animal sacrifices for a few years now so that when this temple is built, they can immediately begin the daily sacrifices on the Temple Mount. As, yes, the Temple Mount! There’s been a lot of talk even within our own government regarding Israel regaining control of the Temple Mount. Part of the peace treaty that will be confirmed by the Antichrist will allow this to happen. All the way back in President Trump’s first time in office, he proposed that Israel be able to regain sovereignty of the Temple Mount so that people other than just Muslims can pray there. The Jordanian Waif currently polices this area.

I’m not sure what translation of the Bible you use, but in Hebrew, this man will “confirm a covenant”. It may be that the Antichrist may come up with a new covenant or peace treaty, or that he simply confirms one that has already been proposed or is in place. So, could the Antichrist confirm the peace treaty called the Abraham Accords and could that be the peace treaty that Scripture is speaking about? I seriously doubt it. I think the Abraham Accords will usher in a false peace that will ignite the Ezekiel 38-39 Gog/Magog war. Some people have asked whether or not Donald Trump is the Antichrist. I’m smiling as I type this. No he isn’t for a few reasons that we will get into as we get deeper into our study. The confirmation of this treaty happens at the beginning of the 70th week of Daniel which means that it happens when that last 7 years begins. Half way through that 7 year period, he will stop the temple sacrifices. For him to stop them, it is implied that they must have started and therefore, a 34d temple must be in place prior to the half way point.

59.What does the Antichrist do at this half way point?

The abomination of desolation is something spoken of in Daniel. We’ll cover this in another lesson. Suffice to say, he does something horrendous in the temple. In the first study on Revelation that I wrote and taught, I included a very detailed drawing about the 70th week of Daniel. It was great, but it was confusing at the same time. I think I’m just going to stick with the timeline I gave you earlier in this study because it is very easy to follow.

On the End-time Events Timeline, there is a gap between the 69th and 70th week of Daniel called the Church Age. We are currently living in the Church Age. This was a mystery to Daniel and was not revealed until the New Testament. After the Church Age is over, the final week, the 70th week of Daniel begins.

The chronology goes in order like this:

  1. The Church Age ends with the rapture of the Church.

  2. An undetermined amount of time may lapse between the rapture of the Church and the beginning of the last 7 years/70th week of Daniel. I believe this will be a short time as the world will be in total chaos and will need someone who seems to have it all together to come onto the scene.

  3. That last 7 years begins with the Antichrist confirming a peace treaty with Israel.

  4. 3 ½ years into that peace treaty, the Antichrist goes into the temple and enters the holy place and sets himself up as God.

  5. That last 3 ½ years is referred to as the Great Tribulation.

This is a lot to take in and there will be a whole lot more in the weeks to come. Hang in there! You have the Spirit of God to help you understand and discern what you read.
